Hi friends,
I have a zero-obligation ask that I wanted to run by you.
On Tuesday, August 8th, the one-year anniversary of Morning Musings passed by uncelebrated and, in a meditation, I got a bit of a spiritual smackdown for letting that happen.
I’ve been wanting to write and publish consistently for years, and then I did it!!
Between August 8th, 2022, and August 8th, 2023, I published 160 Morning Musings. 160!
And I want to celebrate that. I want to celebrate this thing that brings me so much joy. I want to celebrate that I’ve actually taken action on it, that I won’t lie on my deathbed wondering what would have happened if I ever gave that writing thing a try.
My ask for you is this: if you believe that there is a benefit to Morning Musings existing in the world, can you please tell me why?
It can be a personal benefit, like one friend who said that my writing helps her be gentler with herself or another friend who said that my writing validates feelings she has inside herself that she couldn’t put words to.
It could be about a specific idea I’ve shared that’s helped you or just a general “If more people read these musings, the world would be a more ______ place.”
I know that my musings aren’t for everyone. I know that most people don’t like posts that are many hundreds of words long. I know that this style of writing is niche and not mainstream and only for a small group of people.
And, if you’re one of those people, I would love to hear why. Why are you willing to devote a few moments of your day to reading my musings?
Your answers will help me celebrate, and they will also help me understand who else is in our tribe. Who else might enjoy these musings? Who else we should invite to our eventual parties (aka gatherings in South America)?
Please know that your response does not have to be pretty or polished. It can be a stream-of-consciousness, typo-filled, grammatically horrifying “I’m going to send my thoughts right now” comment, message, email, or phone call.
Morning Musings is (in my book) about becoming freer. More accepting of yourself. Kinder. Gentler. More trusting. Leaning into a more enchanted way of living, one where we’re allowed to slow down and breathe and read a long-ish post for the joy of it, even if it doesn’t give us a single stock market tip.
It’s about dreaming a more relaxed world into being because I want to live in a more relaxed world. I want to bring children into a more relaxed world. I want you to live in a more relaxed world.
And, if you don’t have time to send your thoughts, please know that you don’t have to avoid me from now on. This is a zero-obligation ask, and if not a single person responds, I’ll still wake up tomorrow and dance around my room before sitting down at the keyboard to see what comes up.
Love,
Keely
Your musings are insightful and help me to see a different perspective on life.
Keely,
The reason I enjoy reading your musings is because I also suffered with depression and reading that you have also makes me feel like I’m not alone. Being that I can relate to you, it makes me want to take advice from you, knowing that you have been thru the same struggles. I also enjoy following your advice on how to be gentler with myself, acknowledging that my needs are different from others around me and that’s okay (I.e- your dandelion musing).
I truly admire the work you’re doing - sharing your experiences & knowledge to help others in this world is one of the most important and beautiful acts of service one can offer.
Thank you.
Cheers to you & the anniversary of Morning Musings!!
With gratitude & admiration,
Kristin
