#269: Zero Sides of Focus
32 minutes ago, I tapped my phone against the matcha shop’s card machine, intending to buy myself an hour and a half of focused time.
Instead,
I bought myself an expensive matcha latte
That came with zero sides of focus.
And my inner Roy Kent has some things to say about it, because this isn’t working for me.
I thought that I had a fully articulated stance to share on this topic, but I’m finding that flow is eluding me at the moment.
So instead, I’m going to offer commiseration.
If you, like me, repeatedly find yourself sitting down, eager to make concrete progress on things that light your soul aflame,
Then stand up an hour or so later, deeply unsatisfied because you’ve instead made a millimeter of progress in a million different directions.
Well,
Same.
Same, sis. Same.
And it’s frustrating, isn’t it?
So I’m going to surrender (because my chart has taught me that force never gets me the things I want) and shift directions.
Instead of doing more and more while getting fewer and fewer results, I’m going to hit pause.
I’m going to pick up Greg McKeown’s Essentialism or Cal Newport’s Deep Work.
And I’m going to see how it feels to read about solutions to the exact problem I’m currently having. Because Human Design says that those of us who have “undefined crowns” (the top triangle on your chart) get energized by outside inspiration. So when things aren’t flowing,
When we’re feeling stuck and frustrated and irritable,
A book or podcast or conversation with a genuinely inspirational friend (not just anyone)
Can be the quickest thing to shift our state.
In unfocused solidarity,
Keely
P.S. My plan to shift my state was immediately foiled by an urgent accounting issue. Is something weird happening with the stars or planets?!
