I’ve started doing something radical lately.
Really wild.
Do you want to know what it is?
(It’s pretty out there.)
It’s…
A morning walk.
With headphones in (critical).
I’m 12 days in and, honestly, it’s transforming my world.
I wake up, feed Winnie, give her a bit of time to play, then wrap her up snug against my soon-to-be-sweaty body (maybe this isn’t as great for her?) and head out the door.
We trudge our way up a massive hill (very taxing for Winnie), and then…
Trees. Birds. Insects. Music.
Podcasts.
Podcasts, podcasts, podcasts.
A central tenet of Human Design is understanding your defined and undefined centers.
I, like roughly 70% of the population, have an undefined inspiration center (the crown center).
Our undefined centers are where we’re designed to be influenced by the outside world—where we’re open and receptive, where we’re meant to dance with outside forces.
Which means I don’t have a self-sufficient supply of inspiration (just like people with an open energy center—all the Projectors, Manifestors, and Reflectors out there—don’t have a self-sufficient supply of energy).
My inspiration (and their energy) comes from interacting with our environments.
From specifically seeking out things that we find inspiring (or energizing).
Then my chart has a lot to do with movement, so inspiration for me flows even more freely when I move my body (hence why I always used to greet my day with dancing before sitting down to do the day’s musing).
And now I’m a happier mom. A happier human. A happier me.
Winnie gets her first nap while sweetly stuck to my sweaty chest.
And I get to fill my inspiration tank.
My movement tank.
My delight tank.
And we’re going to have to change this one day, because things always change with babies. One day, she’ll need her first nap to be in a crib, not in her carrier.
So I’m going to savor this enchanting season—where I’m feeling delight and joy and gratitude and awe.
Thanks to something free. Something easy. Something simple.
If you don’t yet know your prosperity archetype, I encourage you to investigate. Mine’s simplicity, and simple things are what unlock the greatest fulfillment for me. But it’s not universal.
Human Design is the “science of differentiation,” and it’s all about finding out what works for you.
Not what works best for your friendly neighborhood morning muser, or the Instagram bro who pretends he’s uncovered the secret to everything, or even Huberman.
For you. You, you, you.
Science of differentiation.
Quite nifty.
Xo,
K
Morning Musings is a delight-first writing practice where I wake up, put my fingers on the keyboard and see if any ideas want to play. The cherished humans who read these musings tend to see them as an invitation to slow down, have a virtual cup of coffee together, and contemplate the human experience.
